Concrete is an expressive, practical, and aesthetically pleasing material when used properly. A trained professional, much more of an artisan than a contractor, can transform the formless slurry of concrete into nearly any shape desired, which then becomes a solid mass. Unlike marble or granite, which basically limit the designer to working in right angles, the possibilities with conrete are endless. You can color, grind, polish, stamp, or stain it. You can embed objects within it. Your countertop becomes more of a sculpture than a mere slab and surface, bringing your kitchen, bathroom or whatever application you have in mind to life.
